The tourniquet should be tied in above the wound (proximal), and as close as possible to the wound, better in the 1/3 part of upper arm or the middle part of thighs; Not mount on the calf or forearm, because there are two bones, between which are blood vessels, and the tourniquet can not compress the blood vessels. The 1/3 upper middle part of arm is also forbidden to mount on tourniquet, because it may cause nerve damage and paralysis of the arms. After deciding where to mount the tourniquet, at first put a strip of cloth on it, then tighten the tourniquet, wrap around the body for two rounds and tie a knot in appropriate tightness until observing the wound not bleeding. Need to remember the working time of tourniquet, every half hour to loose the tourniquet for 1/2mins in winter and every 1 hour in summer, and then tie up. When tied to the site to go up and down slightly move. For patients with massive hemorrhage, should be tie the tourniquet and sent to the hospital as soon as possible.
