Fast growing. Hardy zones 9b-11, grow in containers in any zone, bring in during winter in colder zones. Full sun. Dry, sandy, cactus-like soil. Can grow into small trees in tropical zones, but take well to trimming. Size can be controlled by growing in containers or trimming back each year. Amazing, frilly, divided leaves will draw your attention even before the flowers, but butterflies really LOVE the flowers! They produce small but striking red and yellow flowers all summer long! After the flowers, the large green seed pods are an added bonus. They like heat and sun - not much water and well draining soil. Can be grown in the ground or in containers. About the only thing you can do wrong with this plant is overwater it or baby it too much. I suggest using a cactus soil mix in a well draining container (terra cotta is perfect for this plant!) Butterflies LOVE THESE FLOWERS too! Add them to your butterfly garden for an extra-special touch.
